  What it is, the benefits, and how it can be applied in the workplace

  Mindfulness has been around for more than 2,500 years, with roots in Buddhist teachings amongst others, although there is a tradition of contemplation in all the major religions. However, recent years have seen mindfulness practices spread to many secular contexts, including the workplace. This briefing paper explores what mindfulness is, potential benefits for organisations and their employees, and offers pointers for creating a more mindful workplace.

  This country case study represents the results of a literature review, data analysis and qualitative research conducted into the impact on UK public services of immigrants from the new EU Member States. The report outlines findings of our literature review and provides an update on recent welfare reforms with regards to EU citizens. It also highlights the findings of our quantitative and qualitative data results before drawing together conclusions and policy recommendations.

Conducted by the Institute for Employment Studies and commissioned by EU-OSHA, the project included a literature review and interviews with researchers and experts The types of impacts that can be achieved from foresight studies are outlined, and the key success factors for achieving impacts on policy are identified.
