Qualitative Assessment of Jobcentre Plus delivery of the JSA and New Deal Interventions
This report presents the findings from a qualitative assessment of Jobcentre Plus delivery of the Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) and New Deal (ND) interventions.
The research, which involved interviews with staff from three Jobcentre Plus districts, explored how delivery might differ from the ‘prescribed’ model, and how that might impact on performance.
The report highlights the:
-
differences in delivery of the JSA and New Deal regimes between Jobcentre Plus offices
-
factors which explain variations in the ability of offices to deliver the JSA/New Deal regime according to the prescribed model
-
effects of failure to follow the prescribed model
-
factors which might be addressed to reduce variation in the delivery of JSA/New Deal and improve performance.
