    The report’s findings are based on 15 case studies spread over the two year evaluation programme with three case studies being repeat visits to give a longitudinal perspective. Investors in People (IIP) was found to be particularly relevant to organisations seeking to grow in employment terms, in helping plan for the challenges of recruiting, managing and retaining a larger workforce.

    This project considered how and why employers use social media tools for recruitment, the risks and opportunities and the implications for provision of advice to managers, workers and employer and employee representative bodies. It also looked at the policies and strategies employers can put in place to manage legal and reputational risks. A comprehensive literature review is supplemented with case studies of three leading UK organisations that had used social media for the purposes of recruitment, plus the results of an exclusive poll of HR decision-makers undertaken on behalf of Acas in March 2013.

  • European added value of applying the principle of Equal Pay for men and women for equal work or work of equal value

    This study examines the Gender Pay Gap (GPG) in Europe and assesses the potential impact of the report adopted by the European Parliament in May 2012 (The Bauer Report). The research team undertook an internet-based literature review alongside an assessment of the limited available data on the impact of policy on reducing the GPG. This was then used to provide a high-level estimate of the minimum and maximum level of impact that legislative action based upon the Bauer Recommendations could have on reducing the GPG and increasing GDP.

    Work organisation and innovation in Ireland

    This report explores the links between innovations in work organisation – under the broader label of high performance work practices – and the potential benefits for both employees and organisations. It draws on empirical evidence from three case studies carried out in the Republic of Ireland, where workplace innovations have resulted in positive outcomes and where social partners played a significant role in their design and development.
