Masterclass: Embedding Diversity

At the event we debated the assertion by Binna Kandola (2009) that: ‘Diversity is about behaviour and outcomes. It’s about how relationships are enacted. It’s about how we perform in everyday situations based on how we think'. This report presents a brief summary of the key points raised and debated.

Research paper: The use of social media in the recruitment process
Broughton A, Foley B, Ledermaier S, Cox A | Jun 2013 | AcasThis project considered how and why employers use social media tools for recruitment, the risks and opportunities and the implications for provision of advice to managers, workers and employer and employee representative bodies. It also looked at the policies and strategies employers can put in place to manage legal and reputational risks. A comprehensive literature review is supplemented with case studies of three leading UK organisations that had used social media for the purposes of recruitment, plus the results of an exclusive poll of HR decision-makers undertaken on behalf of Acas in March 2013.

The study was carried out between February and November 2012, closely monitored by a steering group consisting of the two European social partner organisations as well as representatives of national members.
