    Evaluation of the Disabled Person's Tax Credit (DPTC): A Survey of Recipients

    This report sets out the results from a representative survey of 1,315 recipients of the Disabled Person's Tax Credit (DPTC) conducted during the summer and autumn of 2001. It forms part of a comprehensive programme launched by the Revenue to monitor and evaluate Working Families Tax Credit (WFTC) and DPTC. This report considers the socio-demographic characteristics of DPTC recipients. It then looks in turn at recipients' initial engagement with DPTC, at DPTC provisions and childcare, and at the re-application process.

    Research to Shape Critical Mass Pilots to Address Under-Representation in Apprenticeships

    This project informed the development of critical mass pilots to tackle inequalities in the representation of particular groups in apprenticeship programmes. The pilots offered additional support to assist in the attraction, retention and completion of apprenticeships. The groups targeted included potential apprentices with disabilities, those who would be gender atypical within an occupation, and those from ethnic minority groups. This project consisted of three elements: a literature review, analysis of secondary data, and findings from 24 expert interviews.

    Longer Term Outcomes of the Pre-Vocational Pilots

    Pre-vocational pilots (PVP) aimed to help people with multiple disadvantages in the labour market access to training and support that would enable them to benefit from mainstream training programmes and subsequently move into sustainable employment. This research investigated the extent to which the PVP had been successful in achieving these aims.

    European Social Fund Objective 3: Leavers Survey 1999

    The study aimed to assess the experiences of beneficiaries who had taken part in Objective 3 projects to explore their labour market difficulties, identify their activities on the projects, and ultimately to look at their outcomes from the projects. In essence, the research sought to learn whether ESF Objective 3 had made any difference to the labour market chances of those taking part.

    This country case study represents the results of a literature review, data analysis and qualitative research conducted into the impact on UK public services of immigrants from the new EU Member States. The report outlines findings of our literature review and provides an update on recent welfare reforms with regards to EU citizens. It also highlights the findings of our quantitative and qualitative data results before drawing together conclusions and policy recommendations.
