How can HR drive organisational performance?
Thu 27 Mar 2025 09:30 to Thu 27 Mar 2025 10:30Online Event - Exclusively for HR Network members
Background
A core role of line managers and HR professionals is to help employees and teams perform. It’s well known that performance relies not only on technical business processes, but also interpersonal aspects of management. People are more effective when they can buy into clear goals and see their progress, but also when they feel valued, supported and part of a cohesive team. Despite this varied picture, HR’s remit on performance is often limited to overseeing periodic goal setting and appraisals – processes which to many seem like tick-box exercises. And yet, while employers are often clear about organisational-level KPIs, they are often less clear about what good performance really looks like at an individual or team level. It doesn’t have to be this way.
Event summary
In this webinar, we make a call for a renewed HR focus on organisational effectiveness and productivity. We consider the nature of people performance, factors that drive it and the insight and value HR professionals have to offer. This topic is especially timely: the government’s fiscal and industrial strategies are predicated on improvements in productivity, but the debates on this lack a nuanced understanding of the ‘people’ aspects. HR has much to add.
Drawing together the scientific research and your own professional insights, we will discuss:
- How to think about individual and team performance: its nature, components and its relationship to ideas like employee engagement.
- Measurement of individual & team performance.
- Key drivers of employee performance.
- The effectiveness of performance management practices.
How will participants/delegates benefit from attending?
