Prior to joining IES in 2024, Nicholas worked as a Lecturer of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Kent in Canterbury. He received a Masters of Research in Business and Management with a Merit and a PhD from Kingston University, London for his research work on entrepreneurship as an employment career path and the overall role of entrepreneurial well-being.
Nicholas educational background also includes a Masters of Philosophy in Applied Research in Economics and Business from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Economics and International Relations with Honours from Kingston University, London.
Nicholas also has previous experience as a self-employed in the IT sector and consulting.

Research interests
Nicholas research interests are in technological innovation and the future of work, economic growth and development. Nicholas is also interested in well-being and the motivations which motivate people to make the entrepreneurial choice to start their own business rather than enter/stay in wage-employment.
Nicholas has published in several ABS ranked journals such as the journal of Economics and Industrial Democracy, the Journal of Business Venturing Insights, the Journal of Applied Economic Letters, and the Sustainability Journal.
He has co-authored a report that investigated the online microbusinesses growth in Britain, and has contributed to two book publications: Understanding Contexts of Business in Western Asia (2021), and Organizational Mindset of Entrepreneurship (2020).
