IES has gained a strong international profile for comparative research on employment and labour market issues, which we often conduct in partnerships with research organisations overseas.
We are well placed either to lead consortia or to act as the UK expert partner for large research networks and are keen to develop our network of partners.

Our international projects have covered subjects as wide ranging as:

- active labour market policies;
- public employment services;
- human resource management;
- skills needs in emerging sectors;
- industrial relations and restructuring;
- occupational health and safety; and
- labour standards.
Our clients include the European Commission (Directorates General for: Employment, Social Affairs & Inclusion; Education & Culture and others), the European Parliament, the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound), The European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop), The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) and the International Labour Organisation.
Our research team includes staff from a range of European countries including Germany, Italy, Greece and Spain and we have staff competent in a wide range of other EU languages.
