Research Intern

Jan recently joined IES as a Research Intern, and brings with her a deep interest in equality and social justice issues. Jan’s commitment to social equality and diversity first emerged in the voluntary and public sectors where she worked for several charities, a local authority, and one of England’s largest housing associations.
Jan has since completed a MA in sociolinguistics at Goldsmiths College, during which she explored intersections of language with ‘race’ and class. Here she focused on such issues as societal attitudes towards Multicultural London English, and media discourses around drill music, violent crime and young Black men.
Jan is thrilled to have the opportunity to broaden her knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods at IES.
