Understanding the opportunities and barriers for the continued development of ‘Assistant Practitioner’ roles in England
There had been increasing interest in the potential for greater use of Assistant Practitioner roles at band 4 in the NHS and this was growing with the push to better integrate health and social care.
This project examined the opportunities and barriers for the continued development of Assistant Practitioner roles in England and included interviews with professional bodies and employer organisations, employers, HEIs and trainee assistant practitioners.
