Effectiveness of the Work-based Assessment Method
A rapid evidence review was undertaken of literature relating to work-based assessment for the National Police Improvement Agency. Two questions were addressed in the review: what works in terms of using a ‘work-based assessment’ methodology for providing a fair and usable system for assessing candidates in the workplace? - and what works in ensuring the ‘work-based assessment’ methodology is implemented effectively? (eg how to overcome challenges faced, organisational learning points for implementation etc.) A systematic search of the literature was conducted, and the findings synthesised into a report, with a list of implications being identified for the NPIA.
