Discrimination of migrant workers at the workplace
IES worked with Matrix to carry out research for the European Parliament on discrimination against migrant workers in the workplace.
The project comprised desk research to review the discrimination that foreign-born workers face in the labour market and consolidate the results of all existing research on the subject.
The aim of the research was to find out how migrants had fared during the financial and economic crisis and develop a structure to encompass all stages of the "life cycle" of employment relationships – recruitment, working conditions while in a job, and termination of employment.
The analysis sought to identity what types of discrimination existed across the EU-28 Member States. The research also reviewed opinions on whether action was warranted to guarantee the equal treatment of migrants in the workplace.
