Costs and Benefits of Introducing Advanced Practitioner Grades in the Health Service
This project assessed the costs and benefits of introducing Advanced Practitioner grades in a range of occupational areas within the health service. Information on the productivity gains arising out of implementation of these roles was needed to inform service commissioners of the impact arising from improvement of skill-mix, and its implications for future workforce planning within the NHS. In addition to providing Skills for Health and the NHS with information on impact, a further outcome of the work was a web-based management information capture and analysis tool that NHS managers will be able to use to perform analyses of productivity and to inform workforce planning.
