Comparative Analytical Report on Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in the Recent Economic Crisis

IES coordinated and wrote a comparative analytical report on SMEs in the current economic crisis, focusing on employment, industrial relations and local partnership, for the the European Industrial Relations Observatory (EIRO) of the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions in Dublin. Overall, the report presented information across the EU member states about the current situation in SMEs, relating particularly to trends in their level of employment and structure, and examining issues such as organisation of work and subcontracting. The report also aimed to outline the impact of the economic crisis on SMEs, which are likely to have found it more difficult to weather the effects of the recession than larger companies.
