The Institute for Employment Studies appoints new Chief Executive Officer
20 Jan 2025
The Institute for Employment Studies (IES) is delighted to announce the appointment of Naomi Clayton as its new Chief Executive Officer. Naomi is currently Director of Policy and Research at the Learning and Work Institute, having previously been Deputy Director at the What Works Centre for Local Economic Growth.
Commenting on the appointment, Kathy Poole, Chair of the Board of IES Trustees, said:
“We are thrilled to have Naomi on board. She brings with her a breadth of leadership experience and great expertise in policy and research, with specialisms in employment, skills, good work and labour market disadvantage issues. We are looking forward to her joining us and are truly excited about the future of IES under her leadership.”
Naomi Clayton said:
“IES is a unique research centre in the UK, with over 50 years’ experience in combining applied research and evaluation for public policymakers, with research and consultancy on human resources for employers. I am incredibly proud to join an organisation with such an impressive track record and excited about the role IES can play as the world of work and employment support continue to evolve at both policy and practitioner levels.
“I look forward to building on everything achieved under Tony Wilson’s visionary leadership over the last six years and further extending the Institute’s influence and reach through its high-quality research and evidence-based consultancy.”
Naomi will take up the post of Chief Executive Officer on 1 April 2025, leading the senior leadership team and working alongside approximately 50 multidisciplinary staff.
