Evaluation of the Construction Skills Fund: Privacy Notice
In line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), in this privacy notice for research participants, we explain the legal basis for data processing for the evaluation of the Construction Skills Fund. This includes who will have access to your personal data, how your data will be used, stored and deleted and who you can contact with a query or a complaint.
What is the legal basis for processing my data?
The Construction Skills Training Board (CITB) is the data controller for this project. This means that they are responsible for deciding the purpose and legal basis for processing data. For this project, the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) requires this data processing to fulfil its functions as set out in the Industrial Training Act 1982. The legal basis for processing data is thereby covered by Article 6(1)(e) of the General Data Protection Regulation where “processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the [data] controller”.
This will include processing that information and sharing metrics about the performance of the Construction Skills Fund with a third party conducting the evaluation of the Construction Skills Fund, the Institute for Employment Studies (IES). The Privacy Notice for the CITB is available online here: citb.co.uk/privacy
You can contact Kirsty Woolsey, the Project Manager at the Construction Skills Training Board with any questions about the evaluation at: constructionskillsfund@citb.co.uk
Who will have access to my personal data?
IES has been commissioned by the CITB to evaluate the Construction Skills Fund. The Construction Skills Hub you are involved with (either as an employee, training provider, or employer) may share your contact details with IES for the purposes of arranging a research interview to discuss your involvement with the Hub to date.
The details shared may include your name, email address and telephone number where appropriate. You will be asked for your consent before these details are passed to the evaluation team.
How will my interview data be treated?
If you are invited and choose to take part in an interview for the evaluation, the information you provide will be used for research purposes only. None of the information you provide will be shared directly with staff at the Hub you work with, nor will any individual feedback be passed on to CITB. IES will produce a report that summarises the main findings from all the interviews with project participants. Individuals will not be named.
Your personal information will be securely deleted from the IES systems six months after the project is complete and the final report has been published (August 2021).
Who can I contact if I would like to withdraw my interview data?
You also have to right to have your interview information deleted. If you have taken part in an interview but would like to withdraw your data (up to 2 weeks after taking part), please contact: rosie.gloster@employment-studies.co.uk
Who can I contact with a query about how my data will be used?
If you have any questions about how your data will be used, please contact the privacy@citb.co.uk with the subject “For the attention of the Data Protection Officer”.
