Evaluating Workplace Health Connect
The Health and Safety Executive has been piloting 'Workplace Health Connect'. This major policy initiative in part of England and Wales involves a national advice line with follow-up workplace support to help employers prevent and manage ill-health in the workplace. IES has been leading a consortium (including BMRB, Frontier Economics and the Institute for Work Psychology), to evaluate the impact of the pilot initiative, through comparing the effect in the pilot areas against the benchmark of control areas.
An interim report was published by the HSE in January 2007.
The initial evaluation has been extended to include surveys of employer occupational health purchasing behaviour, their costs involved in the pilot, and case studies of the advice line users.
